might be good if you were using it to drive around, but as a walking map it was too big and bulky.

It's a full size map. I was expecting a travel-friendly map that focused on the more touristy areas and zoomed on each street, with major landmarks noted directly on the map. Other travel maps I've purchased have been laminated and were only a few pages that folded conveniently for travel and quick and easy browsing.

I bought this book for technical info, and that was a small part of the book, but helpful. I purchased it with another book on same subject so together they got me started with thread painting. Project templates are in the book, and I would use them to practice on, but were not something I would incorporate into my fiber art. Would have preferred great discussion on specific stabilizers with pros and cons of each and when to use them. Same for what needles work best with what threads.

What more could you ask for than this book to learn thread painting which gives a lovely finish to your quilt.I love this book so much, when it was lost I had to purchase another copy straight away to put back with my favourites on the book shelf.The easy to follow instructions are clear and the effects of thread painting adds a new dimension which is suprisingly easy to do.I wish I had found this book sooner, the ideas are wonderful.Diva Drothy

The technique shown by Leni Wiener makes thread painting seem "doable" for me. I have two or three other books on thread painting and they are all excellent, but this is my favourite.

She has a different technique for beginners to practice thread painting on a photo transferred to cloth then follow the colors in the cloth with thread. Pretty neat!

This book has the basics of thread painting, but the explanations are somewhat minimal. I think that the pictures are very good, and perhaps explain more than the words.

Good second chance story. Mallory and Braden divorced after their infant son died unexpectedly. Mallory still wanted to have a family but had no plans to remarry. Instead, she planned to conceive through artificial insemination and raise the baby on her own.This was a very unusual story. Braden and Mallory were divorced, but they remained friends. Their divorce came about because Mallory's grief was all-consuming. She felt guilty because the baby had died while she and Braden were out on their first overnight since the baby was born. She blamed Braden for them being away and felt guilty because she had been enjoying herself. The guilt made it impossible for her to be intimate with him. Braden was a man who was always in control of his feelings, and he had no idea how to handle Mallory's grief. Time with a therapist was no help because he didn't understand the advice he was given.Three years after their divorce, Braden, and Mallory were still a big part of each other's lives. They couldn't seem to let go of some part of their relationship. However much they still cared about each other, each of them realized that they needed to take steps to move on. Mallory was determined to have a baby and wanted Baden's support of the idea. Braden was ready to break the news to Mallory that he was going to move from San Diego to LA, putting some physical distance between them. I loved how they were able to talk openly with each other about their plans, but there was also that part that was always held back. Braden has always kept a tight rein on his emotions, thanks to the drama he endured growing up. It wasn't a problem until after the baby died when he was unable to handle Mallory's grief. His need to distance himself drove her to hide her own emotions when he was around. There was no way that their marriage could sustain that.Braden was shocked by Mallory's plan but listened to everything she had to say. But after their dinner was over, he couldn't forget about any of it. It was interesting to see that he had trouble dealing with the idea of her having a baby with an unknown man, even though he tried to convince himself it was out of concern for her. Mallory was stunned by his suggestion that he provide the sperm. She saw all the drawbacks, in spite of his assertion that he would be hands-off. But as the months went on and her pregnancy advanced, Braden couldn't stop himself from becoming more and more involved. There were many sweet scenes of him doing things for Mallory, and it was easy to see that his love was growing stronger. But he still had trouble dealing with intense emotions. Mallory fought hard against allowing herself to depend on Braden. The thought of going through the same issues of him pulling away when she needed him made her reluctant to put her heart at risk again. Both Braden and Mallory spent a great deal of time and energy second-guessing every decision they made, with each one bringing another issue to the surface.The further along in the pregnancy, the more intense their feelings became. I liked how this pregnancy caused both Mallory and Braden to recognize the mistakes made during their marriage and resolve to change things in their current situation. It was occasionally frustrating to see how much in love Mallory and Braden were, and how afraid they were to take a chance on it. The final straw came when Braden's logical mind dictated one action, and Mallory's fears and memories made her certain that it wouldn't work. I ached for Braden as she laid out the issues as she saw them, and he couldn't understand what the problem was. It looked like it would be the end of their friendship also. Mallory was determined to ride out the pain of the loss and do what was right for the future. Braden's "aha" moment came at the hands (paws?) of an unexpected source. I loved seeing how that broke through his long-established barriers, and he finally understood what Mallory and the therapist had tried to tell him. His big moment at the end had all of the intensity of emotion that Mallory could hope for. I must admit, I would have liked an epilogue that included the birth.

I am new to fundraising and now find myself in charge of raising a lot of money. This book is filled with easy to understand and apply nuggets of wisdom that will make my job much easier! In short the book suggests fundraising is not asking someone to give; its sharing with others a great opportunity to invest and in so doing reap the benefits that accompany a wonderful investment. There's a reason Jesus said its better to give than receive. This book explains why and I highly recommend it.

Henri Nouwen's A SPIRITUALITY OF FUNDRAISING is a book I need to read again every year in order to keep my bearings.My own battle with fundraising has seen some success and some notable failure. I was raised to believe that a decent person never asked anyone for money. It's the best book about fundraising. have bought it for a number for friends who are either in fundraising or who are raising funds for missions trips. Most of us hate to ask for money, but this book puts that fear into perspective. The bottom line is, we need to think of fundraising as an opportunity and if you don't let people know about some good work you are doing, you are robbing them of an opportunity to do something good. It's a very short read, so it's easy to get through and it will change how you look at fundraising.

Read this book and you will never look at giving, asking, receiving nor ministry the same. As only Nouwen can do, he positions the reader to clearly seeing divine blessing in fundraising as fundamental to kingdom building.This book is for all who are related in any way with a non-profit.

Having raised support for various mission efforts that my wife and I have enjoyed over the past 27 years, I found this book very helpful. It is so easy to become cynical and focused on the negative of fundraising. Discouragement can be a constant companion, if one is not focused on the spirituality of fundraising. I recommend this book to be read and read again many times, especially before a meeting to ask for funding.

Be forewarned - Stay With Me is one of the saddest books I have read in a long time. It is not at all what you might expect, and there are many surprising plot turns. At times the main character Yejide's pain was so excruciating, I was not sure if I could continue. Like Yejide, though, I did and it was worth it. One minor criticism is that the author tells her story from alternating points of view but does not indicate at the beginning of a chapter that the narrator has changed. It creates unnecessary confusion for a few paragraphs each time there is a shifting point of view. The story is good enough without this confusing style. This is an emotional book about marriage, motherhood, family ties and the power of tradition in our lives. I highly recommend it.

Stay With Me is a devastating story about a Nigerian couple's longing to have children, and the lengths to which they go to make that happen.Yejide and Akin have been trying to get pregnant for years. In their culture, there's immense pressure from their families to have children, and though they have deliberately avoided polygamy, the time finally comes for Akin to take on a second wife.This initiates a series of tragic events for Yejide and Akin, particularly when Yejide finally gets pregnant.There are many layers to this story, which is told from both Yejide's and Akin's perspectives. Their mutual desperation causes a permanent rift in their once blissful marriage, each of them making sacrifices that seem right at the time but have lasting consequences.This is a compelling and powerful book, in spite of my never feeling as emotionally invested in it as I would have liked. In many ways it reads as a parable about secrets, betrayal and desperation.

Stay with Me was an emotional story that had me holding my tears on the beach. The writing was amazing. I felt drawn to the characters. This story showed how tradition and belief can test a man’s character. Ayobami Adebayo wrote this story in a way that I couldn’t pick a side. The woman often carries the shame and bear the burden of the family. Even with all the negative decisions, they both made, I still wanted the marriage to survive. This story is a perfect pick for a book club. After reading this story, I find myself wanting to read other reviews. I wanted to read other people’s reaction, especially the ending. I won’t spoil it for you. I loved this story, and I highly recommend you read this novel.

I described this book to my husband as a murder mystery where culture was the criminal. No one person was actually the criminal. Good people who were victims of years of traditions continued to favor traditions over individuals. Fascinating insight into different outlooks on life and yet hauntingly familiar.

Set in Nigeria, this is the story of the orphan-girl, Yejde and the handsome, Akin who meet and fall in love at university. They marry, but after four years and no children, familial and cultural pressures bear down on them. Offspring are part of one's legacy and without children, one has no heritage in Nigeria. The reader's strong emotions cannot help but rise and fall as the themes of love and lust, deceit and truth, birth and death, science and superstition intertwine as the couple try to fulfill their duties to themselves and family. The setting of time and place are very real, with the author including actual events that occurred in Nigeria during the 1980's -1990's: package bombs, democratic elections, ruthless raping bands of robbers and military coups. These historical realities add to the instability of the lives of the protagonists. Remarkably, this is Ms. Adebayo's debut novel and it is remarkable! Yejde believes, "Love is a test." Are you, dear reader, up for the challenge?

Given how many best of 2017 lists this ended up on, it was no big surprise that this book was so good. I could barely out it down. The characters are compelling and just so human, with all the good and bad that that entails. This book takes you through some dark places, but leaves you with just a little renewed hope at the end.

I read this book as a result of seeing it reviewed in my local newspaper. The come on was that it was about a Nigerian woman who is married and her husband brings in another wife after she fails to get pregnant after four years. As I read the book, I kept wishing that I knew a little more about Nigerian culture. It seems that there is a great deal of pressure to have children.While there seems to be a real love between Yejide and Akin, there are aspects of their relationship that just don't add up. Since I don't want to be a spoiler, those who have read the book will understand.Thre is clearly conflict in the relationship and I like the way the author writes one chapter from in the voice of the wife and the next chapter in the voice of the husband so that you can get both perspectives. There were times that I sided with her and then times that I sided with him, although I basicially thought that he was dishonest throughout the relationship.As other reviewers have sad, this is a very sad book. A lot of very sad things happen and you wonder if it is just bad karma or really some kind of curse. That is something that you have to judge for yourself.

I can appreciate that this is an excellent, well-written novel. It's meaningful and compelling- you won't be able to put this down. My reasons for not liking this have to do with my personal taste. I was fond of the characters I shouldn't have been fond of, and the main character was a little melodramatic and off-putting and yet I felt sympathetic towards her. This is one of those novels that drags you in and then spits you out at the end and you're not sure what to think. I'm still not sure what to think and I know that feeling is going to stick with me for a long time.

People are amazed that This came from the FAA!! They all(this volume as well as Vol. 1 and the AMT powerplant book) come with outstanding color pictures and the books are a great find. They are also very inexpensive for the size of the books. I added the three that I mentioned, plus the advisory circular AC43.13 which is only $20 but over 800 pages long! These four books will be of immense help in studying for your A&P!!

I'm in an A&P course and this book was assigned (along with Volume 1). There is a workbook that covers both volumes and I would recommend getting that as well.My school switched to this book from the Dale Crane series but continued to teach some of the material found in Crane's books. That was very confusing, but once I figured it out and bought Crane's book it filled in the gaps for me. In fact, I prefer the Crane series as being more conversational, easier to understand, and well laid out.Still, Volumes 1 and 2 of this book are ok.

Perfect

The content and the presentation are fantastic in my view (speaking from a pilot's perspective)--I just didn't like this particular version of the book because it's a black-and-white printout (which in addition is slightly blurry). I thus returned it and recommend buying the ASA publication (which is cheaper as well).

Too small and pictures are difficult to view. Maybe better as a Book format

Great information. I bought the series to gain more knowledge about planes. This book is geared to future mechanics and goes into much detail. I enjoyed learning of the little details that go into pane design. Good series of books!

This book has great pictures in color. I bought this as a reference to learn about different components that are on an aircraft. I am a design engineer and books like these are of great interest to me.
