I love these unique, insightful cards! I am a seasoned tarot and oracle reader, psychic, medium, etc. with experience with probably 50 decks. I was drawn to these cards because I am drawn to trees and forests. My intuition told me to buy these and I'm so glad I did. I love how they are separated into four different suits of being, healing, growth, and power. These are gentle cards that have been spot-on for me so far. The illustrations are also beautiful. Please be advised - these are oracle cards so they are not set up like tarot cards with four suits and major and minor arcana. I love the normal size of the cards and the booklet. I also love learning about the trees and how their energy can benefit me. I highly recommend these.

So the reason I gave a one star is because the one star is what it deserves. I do not want to offend anyone or makers of the cards. Art work is beautiful but thats it. There is too much on tree description and there is only one or little information on the card meaning. I like the author but this deck is disappointing.

Really lovely cards. Beautiful artwork, the only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is I wish they would have gone into more detail on the meaning of the card, but I do like that they give background information on the tree itself. Overall I am really happy with this deck.

It was not exactly what I expected. The deck is beautiful but uses the same "wisdom" that has been interpreted by other decks. I thought this deck would to into the deeper of trees themselves. In the years to come we will change and new decks will be created that goes into another level of healing, I thought this deck would be a forerunner but it is not. I have not as yet, connected with it but will when it calls to me. I wish that the back of the card did not let me know if it is reversed or right side up, but the art goes only one way so without turning over the card I know if I have reversed card, just do not know which card it is.The same interpretation generally is in all decks now. Perhaps we are not ready yet for a going beyond what has been taught up to now. I hope we will soon.

I am a tree hugger and I like Oracle cards so I thought this would be a perfect match for me. There's something about them that just doesn't click with/for me. They are pretty, however. When it comes to Oracle cards, I have to feel a connection with them or it's just not a good match.

I use these everyday. Beautiful, informative, not only intuitive , but educationally. I learn a brief item about the trees too while getting a reading too! I highly suggest these cards. Beautiful pictures, lots of symbolism too.

Really awesome oracle deck. Has larger pages with more info along with deck of cards. Very nice! Love it.

I bought these cards after seeing the Coastal Redwood card. My daughter and I took a trip to the Redwood Forest and the card illicits the same response (at least for us) as when we saw them in person. My set was missing the included pamphlet and the seller replaced the set right away.

This book was a struggle to read. There are a lot of great facts but the author obviously has some animosity against Native Americans. There is very little good to say about them in this book. I know the subject matter is supposed to be about the kid napping of Cynthia Ann so you could paint the natives as the bad guys, but the author seems to forget that the pioneers were encroaching on their lands in the first place. Also, there is very little about Cynthia Ann in this book overall. She's more of a chapter or two instead of the reason for the book. I know the facts are sketchy but this book just wasn't pleasant to read.

A great account of the Parker family in American history. Cynthia Ann was a child of 9 when kidnapped by a band of Comanche warriors who raided the Parker settlement in Texas. For the next 20+ years, Cynthia Ann lived and became a Comanche. She gave birth to her children fathered by a Comanche Chief. Her oldest son, Quanah Parker lived to be the last Chief of the Comanche people. Cynthia Ann was returned to the remaining white family members with her infant daughter. The child soon died and While still a woman of mid 30's She died as well, never able to adjust to the life of the white eyes. Quanah Parker never gave up trying to find out the fate of his mother. Raiding white settlement in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandle to steal horses, cattle and kill as many whites as he could. It was the end of the era for the American Indians and their free roam of the plains. Be sure to read this and the biography of Quanah Parker. Today, in Texas, there is a town named Quanah and a Parker County in tribute to the incredible story of the Parker family.

It's a fascinating story of Texas girl captured by Indians, marrying a chief and having his children. And, as usual with these stories, she is never fully able to take up her former life when freed.

I have always been fascinated by the Comanche’s and their captives. Growing up in southwestern Oklahoma I was in the middle of their territory. The Cynthia Ann Parker story and her son Quannah are legendary.The story telling is a little dated and sometimes melodramatic at times but it is still a good read.

This book is the perfect companion to the book Empire of the Summer Moon. Cynthia was the mother of Quanah Parker, probably the most famous American Indian who ever lived. (Empire was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and I recommend reading it first)

I like the story,however ,it seems to be told from the side of the white, the Indians were fine in their own environment till the whites got greedy,but this book seems to be mostly about how awful the Indian was.

great, easy read. I had known the Cynthia Ann Parker from reading Empire of the Summer Moon. This book delves further into the personal story of Ms. Parker, and also tells of factual events in Native American history.

So well written with excellent knowledge of the history of the time, excellent knowledge of the customs and lifestyle of the Indians. The characters were so real and I enjoyed the love affair between Cynthia Ann and Nocona. I travel through Quanah, Texas at least twice a year and was so excited to find out more about that great chief. I couldn't wait to see what happened next but was sorry for the book to end.

Sandra Boynton is a beloved American cartoonist, children’s author, songwriter, and highly sporadic short film director. I bought this book for my son whose best friend is his stuffed penguin, Penny. The fact that it was about a penguin who wants to go everywhere and do everything with you couldn't have been more perfect for my son, and he does love this book. The drawings are super cute--a little penguin pictured on the cover going everywhere and doing everything with a hippo--and, in case you didn't catch the note in the book, Davy Jones sings the song that goes with it! Look it up on Youtube!Now for the reason I gave it four stars instead of five: one of the rhymes is super awkward and disruptive to the narrative. It is wordy and verbose and could have easily been rewritten to go with the preexisting flow of the story. Nitpicky, I know, but while I'm not good at a great many things in life, I am an excellent oral reader, and children love when I read to them, and four page rhyme (yes, four board book pages long) messes me up no matter how smoothly I try to read it. Still, it shouldn't dissuade anyone from buying the book, especially if you have a penguin lover of your own.

yes, its a board book, and its a baby book, but its a declaration of love and suitable for wedding vows! I found this book "by accident" at the library and have now been buying it as my baby shower gift of choice. Anyone who loves a child can read this aloud and feel just good about the world. If you havent read it, you should!

My mom bought this for me in 2006 when I was in high school. I loved it then. Now, I read it to my three children. I still love it, and they do, too. My husband and I sing it (there is a song version of it on youtube) and the kids think it's awesome. My mom passed away before my first was born, so it's a very special book to me.

One of my favorite little people books! Good quality to survive the chewing. Make sure you look up the song on Youtube of Davy Jones singing it! You'll love this book, as you read it for the millionth time.

It’s just OK. We are a HUGE Sandra Boynton family here! I got this for my almost 3 yr old just recently because she’s REALLY into Penguins. Penguins + Sandra Boyton, I thought this was going to be a slam dunk. Come to find out, not so much. It’s just kind of boring. It’s all about this penguin wanting to be this hippo’s “personal penguin”, which is cute, but it just falls flat. I’d rather spend my money on a different one of Sandra Boynton’s collection if I could do-it-over again.

Great book! Read along or sing along. My children love it. Song can be found on YouTube.

This book is one of my toddler's favorites. We listened to the Davy Jones version of this song, and now we can sing along during bedtime readings.

This is my all-time favorite kids book. The song is so catchy and it's all about love and being friends. I also gave it to my boyfriend one year as a joke gift, but the message is still very appropriate. I have purchased this on several occasions for friends and family. Always arrives in good condition.

Love Sandra Boyton and thought nothing could top Snuggle Puppy, however this book is our new favorite with both of my girls (4&7). I highly recommend viewing the Davy Jones rendition on YouTube. It’s great!

This is a great short story to read, though my objective-to-a-fault mind tells me that really the only one's who could verify it are the Little Boy and the Lord. What this book did for me was to prompt me to keep looking for other material on near death experiences, both good and bad, and the results of that reseach have changed my outlook on life.

Ohmygosh. Just ghastly. Working in palliative medicine, I've heard so many NDE stories from adults and children - and this is absolutely the most ridiculous, unbelievable one. VERY unlike the countless thousands of NDE stories out there.It is so obvious that the story was contaminated by Todd Burpo's own fundamentalist Christianity. And claims in the book that the boy had never heard those Bible stories can be nothing other than flat out lies. A fundamentalist Christian preacher's kid never heard Bible stories? Really?The only truth I found in it was the part about the Burpo family being in a financial bind. Todd found a great way to solve that problem - make up a rubbish story that heavily pollutes his boy's actual NDE story and sell it to gullible people who have the arrogance to actually believe that out of 4,200 religions in the world today, THEIRS is the only correct one.I read the whole thing in paperback. And then I threw it in the trash - to end up in the landfill. Best place for this load of rubbish.

Having just experienced my husband Tom's passing, I found the descriptions by Colton of the death experience to be very comforting. This little boy was able to lift me from a feeling of deep separation from Tom, to feeling Tom's comforting presence. In the Burpos' angst in the Colton's illness arose much spiritual understanding and hope in life everlasting. Colton made death as normal as getting an ice cream cone on a Saturday afternoon. We are right now planning my husband's memorial and I approach it with greater joy than I could have imagined. .

I have read this two times, and I'm reading it again. Rather than a steady diet of watching them dissect cadavers on NCIS and whatever else the media want to feed me, I try to sup with the King, and encourage myself, and motivate myself as well. There is a scene of a battle described that also gives me constant inspiration when I think about it. Our battles today with all the little kingdoms around us are things that we can affect, for good or for not-so-good, and I need to know that I can make a difference, so keep trying!By the way, I study these died-and-come-back stories, and there is a book by Petti Wagner called "Murdered Heiress, Living Witness" that I also read constantly. In it, after bringing Petti back to life, he educates her about the three persons that comprise Him. AND he helps her make an impossible escape from a prison they built in a psych. ward of an abandoned hospital in Texas.I also love the book by Richard Wurmbrand, "In God's Underground", in which he supernaturally forgives his prison torturers and goes back to try to win them. Now that's love! These stories have both really tough parts, and really great parts... kind of exactly like life. Hope this helps!

I liked everything about this book and Colton's descriptions of Jesus, God, & the Holy Sporit. The way he described Heaven was so familiar to me because during my mother's last days she described Heaven and how the colors of Heaven were not like the colors we see here on earth. She described hearing my brother who passed away two years before her; also describing the stairway to Heaven (all what she described and what Colton described is backed up by the scriptures). Reading Heaven is For Real brought back memories of my last days with my Mom and knowing I will see her again. Thanks to the Burpo family for sharing your family to the world by writing this book. This book and Colton's experience in Heaven truly blessed me. I want to share this book with a young couple I know whose baby passed away at 2 months. They know he's in Heaven and I think the way Colton talked about the sister who was miscarried and how he met her in Heaven is very comforting.

I could not put this book down when I started reading it. I was talking to a friend of mine last night and he experienced something similar. I lost my dad in January. I miss him so much. reading this book has helped me to understand where my dad went and I will see him again. I also understand the tug I feel in my heart.

Another book I've read after my mother passed. I needed some reassurance, and information and acknowledgement about what happens in the afterlife. The day after my mother passed, several curious events happened to me that reassured me she is fine in the afterlife….and that there is one.

I still prefer the Appleworks database to Filemaker for ease of use and integration with other components of Appleworks. So glad to have this book because I now have a few older Macs which still run it but I had forgotten many of the details of use. (I have yet to find a comparable database!) I used the database to track presents I bought others (so I didn't repeat gifts) and to catalog certain items I once owned, such as collectibles, as well as books I loaned to others. This manual makes Appleworks like comfort food for my Mac!

Readable, thorough, useful, clear, and wow, inspiring, this manual will work for beginning and experienced users, and be useful for anyone trying to decide whether to go for the upgrade.This is a book you can take to a coffeehouse to read even without the computer program in front of you for reference. The writing style is relaxed, clearly laid out, and substantive. It isn't laugh-out-loud funny like David Pogue's writing (the creator of this series), but it has moments of humor and,, most important, has that perspective of taking all things with some humor. It covers everything you want it to cover - all the nuts and bolts how-tos of all the areas of Appleworks. Additionally, the authors anticipate what our problems are likely to be....and answer them so I can understand. (Right off, iIfound the answer to a problem I've had printing out spreadsheets; thank you, thank you). I found the layout to be easy on the eyes and on the mind - I could find what I needed easily. There is a thorough section on installation and upgrade scenarios - which I find most valuable. And there is an excellent troubleshooting section. The authors deal honestly with the problems that Appleworks6 frist presented - its strengths and weaknesses, what was flawed and what was fixed, what was lost, and what is gained. Their honesty, which makes them credible, coupled with their knowledge gave me the info I needed to decide whether this was the right application for my needs. Here is the advantage of buying a manual not written by the manufacturer.Finally, a womderful dimension to this book, which truly delightes me, is how strongly the vision of possibilities comes across, of how to take this application beyond how I've previously used word processing and spreadsheets programs, to be more creative, more time efficient, more cost efficent, to ways I hadn't thought of or known of...this is exciting stuff and makes the book feel like a two parter - first the part where you master the how-to-use-this-program part and then the mind-expanding-fun-part of "wow, what you can do with this you are only just beginning to know." This is one good manual!I am so delighted with this book in every way; I hope these authors will continue to write for us; I would look forward to anything they would produce.

I am a user of all the Missing Manuals. I would not be without them. This one is well laid out, is easily understood and very helpful. It is always nice to have directions in print. Unfortunately in today's world, the producers of the software do not understand such a concept. That is why we are lucky to have folks like Jim Elferdink to take care of us.

Had to get this book because Appleworks comes on Apple's stuff and you may as well get up the energy to use it instead of spending MEGA-dollars on Microsoft Office for the MAC. Why get a MAC so you can buy Microsoft stuff - get windows and run it there. The book is well written and actually covers the things I needed, for example: label generation, integration of graphics and spreadsheets, etc. Excellent index and table of contents, which are features on which so many books fall short.

I have used Appleworks 6 for years but do not remember all the ins and outs that one encounters now and then. Then out comes the Missing Manual to the rescue. Aw, so simple! I should have known that.Great book along with other Missing Manuals I have on hand.Too bad programs do not come with instructions as well written as in these Manuals.

If you are doing Windows programming, and you've been suffering through trying to figure out how to enumerate the machines and users in your domain(s), change passwords, gather accounting information, etc., then you MUST have this book. And you should probably book mark the author's homepage,..., as it has a slew of programs and utilities.

If you need to know how to interface with Win32 via Perl there is no better source. Dave is the best, and is completely accessible through mailing lists. I highly recommend both this book and the author.

Good book to have if your are doing Perl program on a Windows Platform. The book is getting a little long in the tooth but much of the information is still useful. Maybe it is time for a new edition.

I wish it were a bit more modern but thankfully almost everything that worked in nt also works in vista :-)This book is a must have for the perl windows user. If only I had gotten it earlier.

The book is amazingly out of date. Also the web site pages cited is no longer active.I would return it, if I could.

While other readers point out some errors in the book, I base my 5 star rating on this simple fact-- If you are programming Perl on Win32, you need this book.You will find information in this book that does not exist anywhere else. After reading this book, you will find yourself using Perl to do things on your NT box you wouldn't have considered possible with a scripting language.Mr. Roth provides many code samples, and sufficient background in the text. The information on ODBC, Pipes, and Sockets is worth the price of admission alone.While not without flaws, an invaluable resource for the serious Win32 Perl programmer.

All I can say about this book, is that when I teach Perl courses for Learning Tree, I always take out about five minutes from the course to thoroughly recommend this book to all of our NT administrators, other users of Win32 Perl and anyone else who happens to be in the vicinity. I've found it absolutely essential in the last year or so, on many occasions, and carry it with me on every assigment, come rain, snow or shine, along with "Advanced Perl", "The Perl Cookbook" and "Programming Perl". I use it as more of a reference, than as a tutorial, but basically it's a lifesaver. Recommendation: Buy.

As others have already mentioned, this is very thoughtful and profound contribution. Tippett addresses how we interact with ourselves, each other, and the universe, if not more. The book is infused with nods to her personal journal, which makes the book so much more real and enjoyable. If there's any message, it's that we need to listen more: listen to ourselves, our hearts, and those with whom we strongly disagree. Ultimately, I think this book is about hope for us, as people and tribes, and societies. No surprise HOPE is her last chapter.Even though her radio program, On Being, is not this way, I worried that this book would be too much about God or an effort to proselytize in some way. It is not either of those things. It's a mature, honest, lived perspective on what wisdom is, where it comes from, and what it can mean for us. Scientists, skeptics, and nonbelievers will find a great deal to relate to in this book.If I have any critique, it's that Tippet bases her vision and effort on the great people of the world: the scientists, religious persons, and leaders of all sorts. It's no surprise that their work and words inspire. But Tippett pays little attention to the despots, the true criminals, and those who choose ignorance over thought (perhaps a large proportion?). She nods to her abusive parents, but seems to let them off the hook. I have to wonder what she'd write if she were down in the trenches facing the lesser of our collective angels. There is wisdom in such places and experiences, too. Wisdom of equal import, I think.That said, the book is super, a must read, a must gift…

I'm not sure what I like best about Krista Tippett: her finely-tuned ability to ask just the right question in just the right way at just the right time, her capacity for synthesizing complex ideas and making them accessible to commoners like myself, or her extraordinary ability to capture her thoughts (and those of others) through the written and spoken word. She truly is a modern sage and I feel lucky to have discovered her through her On Being podcast. I enjoyed this book so much I bought a hard copy and an audio copy (so I could listen to her unique and beautiful delivery of the material). This is the kind of book I need to read and re-read in order to deepen my appreciation for the wisdom it contains. What an incredible work from an incredible woman. Thank you for the gift of this book, Ms. Tippett. I'm buying copies for those of my friends who enjoy plumbing the depths of the human soul and contemplating the important questions in life. After all, what else is there?

In the early morning hours of each morning I have eagerly opened this book, but now done I'm feeling the void of a friend's departure. Reading Krista Tippett and her companions' dialogues is an enriching and insightful experience. This grace-filled gathering of devoted people from an amazingly wide variety of religions, backgrounds and experiences forms the perfect guest list for a grand dimmer party full of engaging ideas, and yes, wisdom. So very glad I purchased the Kindle version which makes available terrific highlighting and note-taking options. Tippett also lists at the end of the book those she interviewed and notes App access for listening to the each full interview. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: I also purchased this in paperback for an elderly friend and am greatly disappointed with the production: the print is faint and not easy for old eyes to read, so disappointing. What a hassle to follow up on this! This is the reason for the four star rating. Tippett' work is five stars-plus!!!

A brief review cannot possibly do justice to this amazing book. Krista Tippett has woven an incredible group of strongly wise quotes from her interviews with a great variety of experienced and learned people.As a journalist she has had access over the years and throughout the world to these people, and has delineated her own personal growth and change as she has met and mused about them.....The "Mystery and Art of Living" seemed to me to allow the reader to accompany her on her life journey and, for me, fulfilled the promise of the title.....(Should I ever "Become Wise" (or wiser,) I would give her credit along with the philosophers of my early liberal arts education.)

First of all, I unreservedly recommend the contents of this book; it's the organization that is somewhat challenging. Krista Tippett has interviewed many seekers and social activists about the role of spiritual consciousness in their lives, and in this book she seems eager to share with us all that she has learned in the course of these conversations and her reflections upon them. The topic is germane, and there are plenty of wonderful nuggets in the book, and the only reason I don't give this 4 stars is that her layout of material is confusing and hard to follow. I (and the rest of my book group members) were frequently unclear about who was speaking, Ms. Tippett or her interview subject. It slowed us down, having frequently to check back to see if she'd left her own voice and was now quoting a passage from an interview. The author should have been better served by her editor. Despite that annoyance, I thought the book well worth reading, as the interview subjects she's chosen to quote had thought-provoking, soul-directing things to say that I appreciated very much and have continued to think about. So by all means, read this book; just be prepared to do a little work to achieve clear understanding.
