Great book — no Index. This book is incomplete without an Index and Amen gets an F for his effort. It costs money to include an Index in an informative book. If making money is all that matters to this author I will never buy his books again. I would have given 0 stars for the “Grief, Anxiety, Anger, Stess, Hypertension and Trauma” I experienced when I went to use the Index AND THERE WAS NONE — yes , of course there were lists of his clinics and their addresses $$$$. I am so bummed I will never again watch his PBS programs. My message to Amen and all other ‘make money fast authors’ is KNOW YOUR READERS — SOME OF US EXPECT EXELLENCE.

Dr. Amen's book is easy to read. He gives great advice and insight into our brains. I highly recommend this book.

Incredible book. It starts a little slow, with a little more neuroscience than I would like, but hang in there. I've been fighting my inner thoughts for a long lifetime, and this book has done more to change my life than any self-help book I've ever read. Upbeat, humorous, practical, spot-on in describing self-defeating thoughts and behaviors and how to stop the cycle of trying, failing and quitting. Super, super, super read. It makes sense, and it offers some really fast, simple things to do to get started and keep up the path to recovery. Can't imagine anyone, even the most put-together person I know, from benefiting from this book. It's that good!

This book clearly presents the workings of the brain and provides multiple strategies for optimizing it. It's well worth reading and then following these strategies.
